During Term 3 at Comet CaRE School two staff members from Pioneer Water Tanks, Jodie and Simon, instructed and supervised Comet CaRE school students in the construction of a 53,000 Litre water tank. The water tank was kindly donated to the school by Pioneer Water Tanks. This fantastic donation, as well as providing a learning opportunity for the school’s Building and Construction students, will further improve the school’s sustainability model. The tank will now collect water from the school roof which will be used to irrigate the school vegetable patch. The vegetable patch was also constructed by students and is tended by students and canteen staff. The fruit and vegetable plants grown were kindly donated by the Stephens Family Foundation. The food grown here will be used in the school canteen with food scraps and peelings going back in the compost bin to enrich and release nutrients back into the vegetable patch.
